Vintage 13.5" Tall Mid 20th Century Hopi Indian Longhaired Katsina
We are offering a vintage mid 20th century Hopi Indian Long-Haired Katsina/Kachina Cottonwood Doll, a most dramatic and striking figure. His purpose is to bring rain, and it is said that they seldom dance without the appearance of a soft gentle rain to help the crops grow. In good original condition. Missing feathers on top of the head, just below the case mask and on the back. The katsina held a gourd rattle in the right hand and a cedar branch in the left hand, both which are gone. There is a crack to the top of the right shoulder and the back of the head, cracks on the side and underside of the kilt and cracks to both feet, the right has been broken and glued. The sash has been broken off at some point in time and is gone. Some flaking, chipping and alligatoring to the paint as shown. Retains original hanging string.
